The Law Code of Ancient Gortyn is the oldest written legislative text in Europe, and it was discovered during excavations of the ancient city. It is widely regarded as the greatest contribution of Classical Greek to Ancient Greek civilisation. It is, in fact, the oldest European Civil Code. 86 page pocket size book, full of colour photographs plus a copy of the Inscription as a fold-up appendix.
